Ricciardo drives carsales' July Unique Audience to 2m-plus, 2017 high

carsales recorded a Unique Audience of 2,114,000 in July, as measured by Nielsen’s Digital Ratings Monthly - its highest for 2017.

The results are in and July proved to be a bumper month for Australia’s number 1 auto classifieds website; carsales.

carsales recorded a Unique Audience of 2,114,000 in July, as measured by Nielsen’s Digital Ratings Monthly – the digital measurement solution that looks at Australia’s total digital audience, unduplicated, across PC, smartphone and tablet for both web browsers and apps.

According to Nielsen’s findings, carsales’ result was more than 1,200,000 higher than CarsGuide and 1,400,000 higher than Drive.

Total page views on carsales (142,881,000) were also measured by Nielsen at more than x10 higher than CarsGuide (12,994,00) and page views per person measured at more than x4 higher (68 to 15).

Time per person on carsales was measured by Nielsen at more than x3 longer than CarsGuide (00:47:25 to 00:11:58).

The July result was carsales’ highest in 2017 and underpinned by the tremendous consumer response to the company’s ongoing ‘The best re-gift ever’ campaign.

Featuring Australian Formula 1 superstar and carsales brand ambassador Daniel Ricciardo, ‘The best re-gift ever’ is carsales’ first retail marketing campaign for FY18.

The campaign was carefully designed to increase engagement with Australian car buyers - and drive traffic to stock listings.

The campaign’s channels were carefully chosen in order to capture the attention of more car buyers and included – to name just a few:

  • Primetime radio placements across the Australian Traffic Network
  • Prominent outdoor placements situated in high-traffic metropolitan locales and major arterials
  • Popular social media platforms including Facebook
  • Music streaming services including Spotify
  • Remarketing on the Google Display Network

Ricciardo was named as carsales’ global brand ambassador in February 2017 and has been helping inspire car buyers and their purchase decisions through his own personal love of driving ever since. 

The Australian F1 superstar has enjoyed a stellar 2017 season to date, including a miraculous win from 10th on the grid at the recent Azerbaijan Grand Prix, another podium place at the recent Belgium Grand Prix and a sterling drive at last weekend's Italian Grand Prix at Monza, charging from 16th to 4th.
