Taking the time to add the applicable VIN for each stock item that you upload to AutoGate, can help your business and potential buyers.
A VIN number is the vehicle’s ‘source of truth’ and can assist the carsales customer service team in helping you with your Inventory-related queries, and potential buyers in enquiring and purchasing your stock with confidence.
Here are 3 reasons why we strongly recommend that you now add VINs to your listings through AutoGate:
1. AutoGate recall alerts
To help dealers in the wake of the Takata airbag recall campaigns, AutoGate users will now receive an alert on identified Honda, Mazda, Subaru, Nissan, BMW and Mitsubishi vehicles, when flagged by these OEMs and uploaded to AutoGate with an applicable VIN number. The alerts advise dealers that rectification work is required at an authorised service centre.
For a vehicle to be identified:
- The vehicle’s VIN must be flagged for recall by the applicable OEM
- The vehicle must be uploaded to AutoGate with its applicable VIN number
Without adding a VIN number to a stock item, you will not receive critical recall alerts via AutoGate.
2. Odometer fraud
Entering a VIN against a stock item can potentially assist the carsales customer service team to better track vehicle history and identify a case of odometer fraud.
Please note: Further enhancements to AutoGate to help dealers with odometer fraud will also be available in the future, underlining the importance of adding VINs to stock items now.
3. CarFacts History Report
Entering a VIN against your stock item enables you or a prospective buyer, the opportunity to purchase a CarFacts vehicle history report.
CarFacts vehicle history reports help to make your listings stand out on carsales.com.au and build trust in your business, giving buyers greater confidence to make an enquiry and purchase your stock item.
